The TIMOTHY Program
The Timothy Program: Breaking the Cycle of Incarceration, One Young Life at a Time
Every year in Texas, young men age out of the juvenile justice system with nowhere safe to go. Many come from abusive homes, carry deep trauma, and face debilitating mental health challenges. Too often, the only options left are homelessness, crime, or a return to prison.
Hope Prison Ministries (HOPE) was founded in 2008 with a simple but urgent mission: to “remember those in prison” and care for “the least of these” after their release, to the glory of God. Over the past 17 years, we have become the leading faith-based reentry provider in North Texas, known for serving the hardest-to-place individuals—the ones others turn away.
In 2023, we launched the Timothy Program to address a critical gap: transitional housing and Christian mentoring for 18- to 25-year-olds released from the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD). These young men are among the most vulnerable in our community. Without intervention, history shows that between 36% and 50% will reoffend. With us, that number drops to below 9%. That difference isn’t statistics—it’s lives redirected toward hope and purpose.
What Makes the Timothy Program Different?
1. Safe Housing + Daily Mentorship: Each Timothy House is overseen by a live-in mentor who shares life with the residents—teaching accountability, resolving conflict, and modeling faith in action.
2. Faith-Based Foundation: Through our patented Christian curriculum and our partnership with More Than Redemption Church, participants complete a structured Christian curriculum and attend church services & Bible studies to build moral conviction and spiritual maturity.
3. Life Skills + Job Training: Partnering with Community Learning Center (CLC), we provide GED prep, vocational training, and job placement. Within six months, nearly half of our participants secure steady work.
4. Mental Health Support: With Kinship Place and MHMR, we connect participants to counseling, case management, and psychiatric care. For many, this is the first time their mental health is taken seriously.
5. Proven Success: Since inception, HOPE’s Aftercare and Inmate Mentors programs have produced a 0% recidivism rate among full graduates. Our Timothy Program is already showing the same transformational impact.
Real Change, Real Results
As of June 2025, four Timothy Houses in Fort Worth provide stability for up to 50 young men annually. Each one receives not only food, clothing, and shelter, but also guidance in managing money, saving for the future, and making healthy choices. These aren’t handouts—they’re hand-ups, grounded in discipline and grace.
Why Your Support Matters
It costs approximately $337,000 a year to fund this program. With donor support, we can keep our Timothy Houses fully staffed and continue expanding capacity as more young men are released from TJJD needing a safe place to land.
Your Gift Will:
– Provide housing and stability for up to 25 young men annually.
– Keep our recidivism rate below 9%—far below the state average.
– Equip participants with jobs, savings, and moral grounding.
– Break generational cycles of incarceration and poverty.
A Sustainable Vision
We are building for the long term. Our sustainability model includes modest program fees once participants are employed, significant foundation support, and an innovative revenue-sharing partnership through Hope For Everybody, LLC, which develops online tools for nonprofits. These streams ensure that every dollar you give goes directly into transforming lives—not just today, but for years to come.
